The America’s Cup recently finished its round of races to determine the four catamarans that will compete for the Americas Cup Finals beginning September 7th. The defender of the title, Oracle Team USA, will sail against the three challenging teams: Artemis Racing, Emirates Team New Zealand and Luna Rossa. The Americas Cup is known for being the oldest trophy in sport history, dating back to 1851.

Zink traveled to San Francisco to root for the New Zealand team along with the Camper Shoes team. Wine tasting in Nappa Valley, a walk through nearly extinct redwoods, and a tour of the massive New Zealand catamaran ensued beforehand. The west coast weather was perfect for sailing, with challenging waves and high tides. Much to the enthusiasm of the Camper observer boat, New Zealand beat the Italian Luna Rossa challenger, in a setting more perfect than any post card.

In other related news, Camper shoes’ collaboration with exalted designer Bernhard Willhelm takes an innovative approach this September, with a new (prehistoric, hint hint) design available exclusively at Opening Ceremony this September — just in time for Fashion Week.

The celebrated designer has been working with the ever expanding shoe brand since 2009, and this new design is a twist on their classic ‘Himalayan’ unisex sneaker. It’s fresh, edgy and daring with a classic yet original design. ANI HOVHANNISYAN / Photographed by CHRIS CAMERON(below)
