THE RISE AND THE DEATH OF BIKE CANYONING. “Look, a trail that goes through the canyon, lets check it out!”, were the famous last words. I even strapped on my GoPro chesty to film the canyon ride. The hype was high and bike canyoning was at its all time high (notice the crypto reference). The ride lasted maybe 30m when we were stopped by the first pile of rocks. What followed was 3km of bike canyoning which mostly involves getting your bike over obstacles, down small cascades and squeezing it through slot canyons which is similar to trying to get your kitchen table through a 3km long chimney. Not fun. 3km took us 3-4h hours and as usual we only had one KitKat bar to share for the whole day. We managed to reach the car just as it got completely dark. Impeccable timing at least. Bike canyoning is not a thing.
