In the US it is Memorial Day originally called Victory Day it was started after the Civil War to remember the people who died to keep the United States of America free.
It’s a very difficult day and I don’t mean to hurt people with something so somber particularly if you’re not affected by it but I feel strongly enough about I that I needed to talk about it as today is delicate balance of remembering, honoring, and celebrating.
Yes the weekend marks the start of true summer so some celebration is expected but Memorial Day is not a day of sales or an extra day to drink or it’s not supposed to be today we honor our dead from every war since the conception of our great nation as well as honoring Gold Star Families.
