#blue exorcist theories

LIVE

If you think I’m over this exchange between Tatsuma and Mephisto *potentially* implying Mephisto has witnessed the same event happen in multiple timelines and Tatsuma knows it… you’re absolutely incorrect.

Brain make boom. Much question.

Do I even need to say anything?

Mephisto’s “Thats the Rin I know” followed by the pages added just for the volume which cuts to another example of Kato blocking Rin’s eye line…. while the next page is Rin’s resolve to “…watch everything that happens and make a decision.”

AND THEN THE LIGHTNING

Continued from this post.

The placement of Lewin on the 110 illustration is PERFECTION.

I have been so excited to get to this illustration so I could fully analyze it with the context which it appears in…

When you place the illustrations alongside the page, the paneling of the page is identical to the way the illustration has been broken up due to the light from Rin’s heart.Rin, holding his head in both pieces, fighting with himself, his morality, and his humanity. Not only is Lightning positioned directly above Rin… he’s the one character along side Rin who falls under the split, with his facial expression being full of uncertainty and fear, and the eye showing is the half that corresponds with Rin’s demon half trying to manipulate him to gain control. Shiemi falls between Lightning and Rin on the right side and is un-ironically… the person who continually brings Rin back down when his nature gets the better of him.

And his eye is nearly identical to how Rin’s right eye shows up in the bottom panel.

You best believe I am on my “Lightning is Rin from the future” shit again.

Thinking hard about what exactly happens when Lewin gets his hands on the Koma sword….

Can there only be one copy of the sword in any particular timeline at once? God, there is too much to think about.

The fact that the Okumura’s birth was code named “Blue Lightning”.

Bitch, I can’t

If Rin is Lightning…. And he’s going by an alias….This is how one loses their marbles.

Continued on this post.

“…It’s important whose side I’m on!”

So for those of you who don’t know, I am a sucker for analyzing paneling… and the composition of the first two pages side by side, is very telling.

Rin and Lewin Light: The Bones

This was initially a reblog response to @chemicalleak but after I wrote it all out I realized it was actually a really good starting point to share with the fandom about what has lead me to pursue the theory that Lewin Light may be Rin Okumura from the future/potentially, an alternate timeline. So I decided to copy it into a post that won’t get lost to the void of my reblogs.

I have a few more parallels and similarities to snoop through before I’ll feel confident about piecing the theory together, but here are a few random examples from where I am at in my read (and a couple pages I had fresh in mind from recent chapters) that will definitely be on that list!

The entire idea came from Lightning’s comment in chapter 70: Ambition, about how he lost his family to a demon, and then he proceeds to brush it off so you don’t know what’s true and what’s fiction in a manner very similar to how Father Fujimoto would dodge certain topics. This is also happening along side when we first start seeing how Yukio’s mental well being is deteriorating. It’s also the same chapters we learn that Lightning is awful with memorization which is why he uses the technique he does as an aria and where we learn that his approach as a tamer is to befriend demons. The first person we see in the series to truly befriend a demon, is Rin with Kuro, and then we learn that is an unusual approach, which he shared with Shiro.

Onto the panels/pages!

The parallel paneling between Mephisto and Shura’s comment.

The similarities between how Lightning comforts Yukio and how Shura comforts Rin. Also on this note, one of the early things that drew me to pursue this concept, was Lightning’s discussion with Yukio. I don’t remember which chapter it is in but it has always felt to me like Lightning was talking to his own brother from experience during that discussion.

Lightnings comment to the sylphs about giving them a bonfire later, for Rin’s “Satan campfire” technique to appear shortly after, which… resembles a bonfire far more than a campfire to me lol

And of course, Rin’s consistent ominous interactions with deities about the state of his existence, which we do not fully understand just yet. It makes me very curious if Yuri was possibly decent from the grigori or something like that… but these are the reasons I must wait to put out a full theory because I could be forgetting some information from SSC.

God and that’s not even all of them that I’ve pieced together through this read… but I don’t have many more pages. Very rough, but hopefully it gives you all something to consider in the meantime while I work on finishing my reread and get myself together!

@chemicalleak it may take me a bit to articulate everything but I do hope to start bringing more concrete pieces together soon!
