On This Day in History June 4, 1984: Bruce Springsteen’s Born In The USA is released. The cover for the album was photographed by legendary Annie Leibovitz.
Born in the USA would become “The Boss’s” most successful album. It has sold over 30-million copies worldwide and had seven top-10 hits. Rolling Stone magazine rated it as the 86th-greatest album of all time. In another interesting Springsteen tidbit. According to the Bruce Springsteen Wiki Page:
“Born in the U.S.A. became the first compact disc manufactured in the United States for commercial release when CBS and Sony opened its CD manufacturing plant in Terre Haute, Indiana in September 1984. Columbia Records’ CDs previously had been imported from Japan.”
