Belly Veins
It was the third test subject that made me question if what we were doing was right… Every day her reports would come in reporting greater discomfort and anxiety. Every time the attached photo showed her belly larger, her skin tighter, her veins peaking through that increasingly thinly stretched layer. Each time I passed the reports on and request early termination of the experiment I’d hit a wall. I soon realised that the project leads wanted to see this girl burst like an overripe piece of fruit. I riled against them. They met me with a stony response, “We must acquire sufficient data with regards to maximum timescale and capacity”
The next day, I was told that I would be subject four and to proceed directly to the preparation room, as they wanted as little time lost between the approaching termination of test three and the beginning of test four…
