there’s a ficlet associated with this that i couldn’t finish in time, but the tl:dr of that is: it is jazz age Bluff City, Samothes is chief engineer of some shady Blough City company that’s shipping stuff to Bluff, Hadrian is chief security officer at the Bluff branch of Samothes corp, and Samot is an indulgent Bluff City Gatsby type for information as well as booze who has bought a Samothes machine to fuck with during loud, extravagant parties  it in hopes of annoying Samothes to come back, and queer poly hijinks ensue!
