Ed’s face in this photo FHKASKDNJS

I have said it once and I’ll say it again: Ed is heartbroken, Ed is mad as hell, Ed has given up, but there remains a part of Ed that still very much wants the softer, easier, gentleman life. Sure, Frenchie can sew, but more importantly, Frenchie can do THIS.

Of all the crew members Blackbeard could have kept, he chose Jim (a brutal killer who lived their life in disguise - familiar much?) and Frenchie (a mixed, Black pirate who knows enough to con his way into the “good” life).

Stede abandoned Ed because (in Ed’s mind) he wasn’t good enough for someone like Stede. He’s not going to go chasing after Stede. Blackbeard is going to stomp around the Caribbean being the monster everyone says he is. But the little, unhealed, inner child of Edward Teach still wants fine, soft things, and there is now only one guy who could maybe get him that.

Also, I don’t really think this is going to happen, but you know what, for someone who thinks he was abandoned for being a monster, showing up somewhere as a refined gentleman (even if it’s a con) would be one hell of a revenge dress, and Frenchie can make that plan happen.
