Drove around the neighborhood tonight looking at Christmas lights, decided to take my camera with me. It was cold, it was windy, and of course it was dark. These photos are blurry, out of focus, grainy, underexposed, and to some over-edited; but that was my goal for some reason. I can’t really say why.

Merry Christmas.

Took this a month or so ago. This and a few other photos I’ve gone through lately have made me realize I should start varying my height more in composition. I’m pleased with the blue/orange contrast though.

The moon, Venus, and Mars, seen through a thin layer of cloud.

Venus and Mars are in line with each other and us, making the brighter of the two dots. It may be hard to tell in the image, but with binoculars I could see it’s more of an 8 shape than a circle. The dimmer dot would be a particularly bright star.

Installed RawTherapee on my desktop, which is currently running Linux as an OS, so I can edit photos on the computer with a calibrated monitor. What a concept. This is my first time using it, and there’s a lot to get used to. There are quite a few sliders that don’t seem to do anything, and on my laptop this photo looks, well, dim.

Any pointers would be great.
