Fun with vampires…

I am currently running a modern, urban fantasy RPG campaign (using the cypher system) and one of the fun parts about the setting is that the vampires etc. are not set for (un)life. For one thing, vampires were human when ‘alive’ and the human mind has - limitations. So older vampires (~200 years+) tend to be sequestered away due to memory issues. Like being convinced Reagan is obviously still the president and the like.

Another issue is that some humans are aware of the supernatural, so vampires tend to be driven from places more often than not. It’s rather hard to maintain wealth when you’re fleeing for your unlife. (Also, vampires are hardly immune to events like the Dutch Tulip Mania and losing funds that way.) At present, a lot of their wealth goes into fake identities and the like. a problem less long-lived supernatural creatures don’t have to consider at all.

Ironically, the modern age has made it easier to keep/transfer wealth with offshore banking and the like, but it’s also that much more expensive and difficult to be hidden so while this is a net positive, vampires on the whole aren’t nearly as wealthy as they like others to think they are.
