This was my first cover photo. It was all Ron Vogal’s idea. When he handed me the red long johns, my internalized thought was: “It isn’t sexy.” I didn’t say that, just dutifully put them on, backwards, as Ron instructed, and gave it my sexiest look. Of course, it turned out beautifully. Full credit to Ron Vogal.
The photo was taken in early February 1962 (or possibly very late January) and later appeared on the cover of Carnival, September 1962.
