I have an a:tla au idea
(I’m going to leave the links to the posts that gave me the ideas, if you see some inconsistencies throughout the plot that I’m writing down tell me in the comments please)
imagine:
- the canon happens, both atla and lok (link)
- katara ends up being the idealized forever girl for aang and the airbender incubator (link1)(link2)
- almost abandoned with her two older children while her husband travels the world with the youngest (link1)(link2)(link3!!!)
- eventually, she is secluded in the swt after aang dies and does not participates further in politics (link1)
- she grows bitter with how her life went, but does not blames aang
yet(cuz see the end of this post) - eventually she and zuko reconnect and the bitter feeling of resentment grows even bigger (link1)
- in some infortunate even (idk what happens) she either kinda dies or just straight blacks out
- the next thing katara sees when she opens her eyes is the scene in the first episode right after aang appears, like right after the ice breaks and the lights of avatar state are dimmed
- katara is very confused but nevertheless helps him (and Bla Bla Bla, you remember the canon)
- she thinks it’s probably the afterlife moment when she is seeing how her life went
- but soon she realizes that she can change what is happening, she is not seeing it, she is back in the past
- it takes time to fully comprehend what is happening, but the canon goes forward whether katara is prepared or not
- throughout the next few months she tries to change what happened in the past but can’t really succeed until she has an ally
- this ally I imagine is probably toph who she met earlier and confided in her
- the next person who she confides in is sokka who is probably hurt that his little sister is keeping a secret from him
- they together decided that they needed to change things
- I imagine that the next thing they planned to do is try to bring zuko to the bright side, but first obviously they needed iroh’s support so they kidnap him (totally planned by toph and sokka)
meanwhile, I really have no idea where aang is
- probably katara realizes that her relationship with aang is just not right but only after some toph kicks, some iroh tea therapy and some sokka talks)
- needless to say that even with all three of katara support team it takes TIME for her to acknowledge that
- probably after that she takes her sweet time defeating ozai and azula (I really want to believe that azula can have redemption), rebuilding the swt and the south waterbending style (that includes bloodbending, FIGHT ME) and being one of the water tribes representatives in the global political arena (link1) (yes i’m going to link my own post) (link3) (link4) (link5)
- I believe at this point she probably has an on and off or a stable relationship with zuko
- I stan zutara and they marry and have steambabies *drooling melting drowning*
- happy ending hehehe
I really have no idea where aang is all of it
