Once, someone asked Stanislavsky to describe with a verb what it means “to love”. He was given options like “giving gifts”, “devouring with eyes”, “being in euphoria”.
But he simply replied: "Want to touch.”
When he heard this story for the first time on the lecture, it made giggle everyone in the class. After all, what is simple touch, when you are in love.
Now he looks at the guy, who is laughing heartily at his joke and understands. He “wants to touch”. He wants to touch his hand fleetingly, while they’re walking somewhere. Wants to touch his shoulder with his, while standing next to him. Wants to hug, no matter is it for happiness or as support. Wants to touch this carefree laugh. Wants to constantly touch this person with a glance. He wants to touch him with his breath, his lips…kissing a smile, outlining these cheekbones, this neck … God, there are so many options for how you can touch someone and he wants to embody all of them.
And he understands that this revelation will make his life more difficult. However, he loves the thought, that he has finally found someone he “wants to touch”.
