Une grande Dame est partie …Mireille Pame-Balin

image

Peaceful march in Bangui organized by the Magistrates in remembrance of Magistrate Bria killed by elements of the ex-Seleka on Saturday 16th of November 2013.
The march was made unlawful by the Minister of Interior, Mr Binoua on November 21st, but the Magistrates decided to walk anyway.
A couple of hundreds more people join the march and ask for the demission of the president, Michel Djotodia.

Muslim men take a taxi from the IDP camp in Bangui after the evening prayer to go to the bus station and take a bus to Cameroun on the next day. They have no other choice but to leave at dark so the local population won’t see them and hopefully won’t attack them.

In Bangui, attacks on Muslims take place everyday in the last 3 areas where Muslim remain. The attackers want them to leave or die and will do everything they can so no Muslim remain in the country.

Not so far away from the usual violence: the gorgeous waterfalls of Boali, Central African Republic. The locals who are still there haven’t seen a tourist since March 2013, when the Seleka attacked and took power in Bangui. The waterfalls used to sustain all the electricity in Bangui, the capital, but nowadays, it only supplies a part of it.

Today in the Internally Displaced People Camp, at Mpoko Airport in Bangui, Central African Republic where about 100 000 non muslim people are displaced. They fled their houses on December 5th 2013 following the attack of the Anti Balaka on Bangui to chase the Seleka out of the capital.

Most of the Seleka left already but shootings continue on a pretty regular basis around the city.

A Peule family is displaced near the mosk of PK12 in Bangui, Central African Republic.

Hundreds of Muslims live just a few hundreds meters from the last Bangui checkpoint, they cannot leave the area, or go to market nearby by fear of being attacked or lynched by the Anti Balaka.

After weeks of displacement, they hardly have any food left, and very little medical care is given.

A quiet picture to illustrate the dire situation of the Muslim population in Bangui and elsewhere in the Central African Republic.

The Muslims have been targeted by the non-Muslim community for weeks: lynching after lynching, the Muslims fled to the airport where they are protected by the African Union Army and the French Army.

They wait to be taken to Chad, where the government have offered them shelter.

They will leave everything behind…

Today in Bangui : People injured by gun shots after the Chadian army came into town to take the displaced Chadian back to their country.
The Misca (African Union army) and Anti Balaka firing at each other with tear gas, gun and grenades at Combattant district.
And finally, a market scene late afternoon still in Combattant, almost like none of the above happened, although tension was definitely palpable
