DECEMBER 20 - XUXA

Maria da Graça Xuxa Meneghel, commonly known as Xuxa, is a Brazilian television presenter, film actress, singer and businesswoman. Her various shows have been broadcast in Portuguese, English and Spanish worldwide. She is a two-time winner of the Latin Grammy for Best Children’s Album, and is also known for her epithet, “Queen of the Shorties”. Over her 30 year career, she has sold over 40 million copies of records worldwide.

Within that time, Xuxa has also taken part in a wide variety of social activism campaigns, fighting against smoking, polio, poverty, climate change, child abuse and the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. Her work with the Xuxa Meneghel Foundation has earned her many awards and honors.

Xuxa was the first Brazilian to appear on Forbes Magazine’s list of richest artists in 1991, and as of 2015, she continues to be among Brazil’s most prominent celebrities with the highest net worth of any Brazilian female entertainer - estimated at $350,000,000 US dollars.
