#corporal punishment

LIVE

States in America in which corporal punishment in schools is legal (there are 19):

  • Alabama
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Idaho
  • Indiana
  • Kansas
  • Kentucky
  • Louisiana
  • Mississippi
  • Missouri
  • North Carolina
  • Oklahoma
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Wyoming

If you happen to have been educated in one of those states, I’d be super interested in hearing your experience in this matter - regardless of what it is. Like, if you did not see any instances of corporal punishment at all, I still really want to know. Feel free to tell me on anon, or message me, or just rebagel and add.

I’m also generally interested in hearing people’s thoughts on corporal punishment in schools, regardless of where you’re from or were educated. Is it legal where you are? Technically illegal but still happens? Made illegal but was a controversial law to pass?

I know this is a super lazy way to do research, but all I’m doing is trying to get a better sense of how accurate a broad generalisation I’ve made in my chapter is, so it’s not something I feel I can really dedicate hours of time to sifting through the immense amount of research on corporal punishment in schools in every country.
