Fenton Obscura

Summary: A new piece of FentonTech changes Danny in a way that no one saw coming. Now Danny has to hope that the person who promises to help isn’t lying to him.

Not that he really has much of a choice in the matter.

Word Count: 1,241

Prompt: Danny gets hit with a new weapon/new enemy’s power/portal wonkiness/what-have-you, but the end result is the same: he doesn’t look like Fenton or Phantom. On the downside? No one can understand him either. He turns to the last person he’d choose to help him right now… Because they’re the only ones who can understand him. (PR258)

And surprise, surprise! This is chapter 1 of 3!

daniel-danny-fenton:

I think it would be really cool if there was an AU where the whole of Amity Park was convinced that Danny Fenton died in the lab accident. After all, who gets shocked with an entire dimension’s worth of electricity and lives? Nobody. Nobody could survive that.

So they pity the Fenton family, particularly the parents who, for some reason, refuse to believe their son is dead. They send him off to school and make him meals just like a regular living boy, but somehow remain confused when their perfectly functional ghost-hunting equipment locks in on him. They somehow never suspect that their own son is the very thing they spend their lives trying to dissect and destroy.

But Danny… the ghost of Danny… he’s clearly not malevolent. And it’s obvious he doesn’t know he’s dead.

The second month of freshman year, when Danny Fenton came trudging through the halls like a typical teenager too tired to be at school on a Monday morning, the whole school froze. The boy (ghost?) didn’t seem to notice as he grabbed his schoolbooks from his locker, and headed towards first period like it was normal.

The news of the Fenton Works lab accident had been on every Amity Park news station the week before. A tragedy, someone so young and hopeful meeting such a miserable end.

And yet, the Fentons did not appear to grieve.

The ghost of Danny Fenton acted as he did before his untimely demise, and if one didn’t know better, they’d be convinced he was still alive.

However, little things gave it away.

Every room Danny entered was immediately the temperature of a meat cooler. Students took to having jackets on hand if they shared a class with him. He didn’t have a pulse either, which Coach Tetslaff found out one day when Dash Baxter hurled a ball just a bit too hard at the smaller teen, apparently knocking the boy out.

The most damning evidence of all, however, was the fact that Danny Fenton didn’t age.

One could consider him a late bloomer, but it was obvious something was up by junior year as his best friends, Tucker Foley and Samantha Manson had gained inches on him, starting to look more like young adults and less like the awkward duo of adolescents they were at the beginning of freshman year. Yet Danny looked the same as always, face as young and bright as it was at the beginning of high school, never aging past the edge of fourteen.

But Danny was no beast or monster as the Doctors Fenton claimed. He was quiet, and peaceful, and although a bit of a slacker from Mr.Lancer’s perspective, a good kid who just wanted a second chance at life.

So no one acknowledged his miraculous return from the dead.

They treated him like any other student or teenager. Dash Baxter shoved him into lockers like normal, students ignored him in the halls, and teachers called him in for detention if he had late work or missing assignments.

It was the least they could do. The longer they delayed the Fenton’s finding out about their son, the longer they could keep him safe, allow him to live his second chance at a normal adolescence.

After all, there were other benevolent ghosts too, like Phantom. Surely it was the right thing to do to protect this one innocent spirit?

i know i just reblogged this but these tags are a MASTERPIECE

oh my fucking god

s-screaming

Idk why the funniest part of this to me is that dash is like “ dang Fenton died? He’s a ghost?! Guess I’d better make sure to keep beating him up. It’s the least I can do.” like HIMBO PLEASE

Holy Feathers, Phantom!

Summary: Danny gets wings and the town becomes a lot more culty than usual. Somehow, this becomes the GIW’s problem.

based on @seaglass-skies’ prompt “Danny’s gotten into a mess he knows his friends and family can’t get him out of. He doesn’t think he’ll be rescued at all, but he ESPECIALLY doesn’t expect it to be the Guys in White who rescue him.” and @kiinotasha’s prompt “Wing AU: It started with an itch that never seemed to go away. ( He can have them in both forms or just one )”

Every time danny uses his ghostly wail, he looks- and feels- a little less human (PR160)  by @ghostey-o-toby

For the @phicphight

My AO3 series

[Read on AO3] [Read on FF.net]

The first time he felt it was after the Christmas Incident. They didn’t talk about the Christmas Incident, he wanted to leave it behind and forget the time he was forced to speak in rhyme because his anger got out of hand. He learned from his mistake and wanted to move on.

But that last Wail took a lot from him, and Danny wondered if permanent damage would come to him. He was thinking something in the lines of his vocal cords, or maybe permanent damage to his ghostly side - the Wail wasquite draining and left him very disoriented.

But all parts were fine. He didn’t think much of it.

***

When he tried to use it to stop the giant sphinx with Tuck’s face, while it failed to do its purpose, he was sure he felt something different this time. Something… cold, inside of him, as if his organs were freezing or something.

But his friend needed him and he ignored it. He needed his head in the game if he wanted to snap Tuck out of whatever the evil mummy had done to him.

Going back to human felt uncomfortable, like trying to push two magnets closer with the wrong side touching, but it was doable. He washalf human, he had a human form. He ignored how the first few steps after transforming back felt like trying to walk in heels (don’t ask too many questions, it just was something that happened).

***

Danny admitted that something was going on after coming back from the chaos and the frenzy of dealing with a clone, finding out that Vlad was crazier than he thought and destroying the cursed lab with a well placed Ghostly Wail. After using his most powerful power he felt cold, colder than a corpse, and that’s rich coming from a dead person. He tried to ignore it, but once he got home he changed in front of the bathroom mirror. Just in case.

It was subtle, and he only noticed because he was looking for the seven differences in the picture, but his skin was less tan - it was slightly greener than usual, the subtones colder than the usual warm flesh pinkish. He was… He was ghostlier.

His first thought was about Dan. The only other time he saw himself with blue-green skin was when he had to deal with a future evil version of himself. Dan was ghostlier, but was that only because he got rid of the human half.

He panicked. Was he losing his human half?

Meet Jasmine Fenton: Smart, resourceful, kind and the very proud sister of Amity Park’s own undead superhero Danny Phantom. Therapist at your service. Intern at Arkham Asylum. Can kick your ass. Likes tea and long walks at the beach.

Meet Jason Todd: Smart, resourceful, not-that-kind (if you say he’s soft you may get knifed) and the very proud vigilante and protector of Crime Alley. Died for a while but got better. Holds grudges. Likes reading a nice book and the sound of the rain against the window.

They are neighbors now.

[Read on AO3]

Based on this postby@impyssadobsessions

“And that’s the last of the boxes!” a booming voice awoke Jason from his post patrol nap that turned into a dreamless sleep.

The vigilante glanced at the windows and yep, it was morning already. Why was it morning? He didn’t want it to be morning, he wanted to sleep a bit more. Lately he didn’t have much time, being in the middle of seizing absolute control over Gotham’s underworld.

“Does my Jazzy-princess need anything else?” said the same voice. It was male, adult, and clearly not from this part of the town or even from Gotham.

Jason rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and his face and stood from the couch. Last night he had the foresight to take off the suit before collapsing, but not enough foresight to put everything away before sleeping. So now he had to shower, clean the suit, clean the weapons and ugh -

There was a loud bang from the apartment next door, followed by a loud “Danny!” and a “I’m fine, I’m fine.”

Oh joy. New neighbors.

Jason was ecstatic. (Not really)

Still, he needed to make sure that this new neighbor, who for some fucked up reason had decided to move in close to the East End and next to the only other one apartment occupied in this floor, was not some kind of criminal going after the Red Hood. Of course there shouldn’t be a single reason one would connect this run down apartment with one of Gotham’s most famous (anti) heroes, but being paranoid paid off.

No, he was not like Bruce. He just took care of wild cards and loose ends.

There will never be enough “regular human unfamiliar with Amity Park’s nonsense has the misfortune of doing crime around local cryptid Danny Fenton” content out there.

Don’t get me wrong there are some absolute gems:

…But there will never be enough

In addition to Suffocation (also on ffn), I’ve kind of written this premise for Dani (Aerumnus, on ffn,on ao3) and a superphantom crossover (Wrong, on ffn,on ao3)!

I don’t think I ever actually posted this to Tumblr. Whoops.

ValerieOS Has Stopped Working (Ao3 Link)

Of all the things Valerie could have lost to, it had to be the Box Ghost.
Of all the people she could have crash-landed in front of, it had to be Danny.

Bruce was not a superstitious man.

He was a suspicious man, paranoid even. But not superstitious.

He knew magic existed. He knew it was not something he could easily explain to himself or anyone else, and so he generally stayed away from it. It existed. But that didn’t mean it changed all his worldviews based on the discovery of its existence.

He just stayed away from it. It was easier than trying to drive himself insane from trying to make sense it. The Lazarus Pit brought people back to life, there was an equivalent of hell, some people could split the world into those above 18 and those below. If he didn’t question the ‘how’, he would generally stay more sane than if he tried to pick it apart. He preferred to focus on the ‘why’ instead.

So when the mansion suddenly became haunted, Bruce didn’t notice for over a week.
