Sha Hai - ending thoughts SPOILERS

Sha Hai finished yesterday and I was left contemplative. The show wasn’t perfect, it suffered greatly when it wasn’t focused on its strongest assets; Qin Hao’s Wu Xie, Wu Lei’s Li Cu and the actual situation around the Old Nine Gates. The fillers were so frustrating. However, it did manage to hit all the plot points to propel the story, and answered the necessary questions while leaving viewers scratching their heads at others.

The strongest aspect of this show was it’s strong cast across the board. Wu Lei was such a revelation in this show: his acting became progressively better to the point where he was one of my faves in a show full fascinating individuals. He had the biggest growth and by the end of the series, and I just felt so bad for him. Poor Li Cu.

It was also such a punch in the guts to see Wu Xie, Fatty and Black Glasses sharing the screen together. I couldn’t stop smiling but I also couldn’t stop thinking about Xiao Ge.

The thing that struck me while watching the last two eps was how everybody turned up based purely on their trust and love of Wu Xie. How throughout the last two eps people kept on telling Wu Xie to keep on going, to no look back, to let them handle the danger. People are always dying for Wu Xie because they love him and trust him to succeed.

I love it. But it has also fucked Wu Xie up.

The scene of Wu Xie walking past his friends to sit silently in the car, an unconscious Li Cu in the back seat, and after all these years he completed what needed to be done. The burden was finally lifted but he has done so much, and the Montage of things that has happened and the deaths, and him breaking down crying. He was crying in relief but also grieving for what he was. Fuck. That whole scene punched me in the guts. Fuck, QH’s Wu Xie Is AMAZING!

ETA: Some observations.

- Black Glasses is just too cool for anybody

I now waits for Chongqi two years from now.

And then to have Wu Xie’s last scene, sitting in the back seat of a car surrounded by people who he loved and who loved him, laughing. Yeah okay, there was a lot of faults to this show but fuck my heart, QH’S Wu Xie was amazing.

- Xiao Hua’s appearance made me way too happy

- Fatty is awesome, the rock of their iron triangle

I’d rate the show 7.5 out of 10. Definite recommend. It suffers from fillers like a lot of Chinese shows, however, its plot, production design, and it’s ridiculously talented cast elevates it above most shows this year.

- ZRS and LW HAPPY!! <3!! OMFG! San Shu actually created a happy couple

- Sunan was so kickass, but fate was signed in stone as soon as she started to feel real emotions for Wu Xie

- SQ: I did know I’d actually get to like you little psycho. But you were a good friend

- Vision of San Shu being so much more emotionally impactful

- Li Cu being a badass, and lying through his teeth to do what needs to be done but wanting to save everyone. Fuck.

- Li Cu and his bros!!!!! I know you will never have a normal life but at least a few moments of normalcy

- THE FUCKING CORPSE FROM 10 YEARS AGO. WHAT A CALL BACK.

- A piece of the fucking GATE!!! OMFG! So that’s how thr Wang family got powerful

- Wu Xie being the cog that destroys the system, his birth being a threat to the Wang family. Guys, this was so good for me from a book pov.

@randomingoftherandomness

@white–muffin

yup, that scene where Wu Xie was crying silently in the car.
Qin Hao did an amazing job as Wu Xie.
And that part where he asked his fellow members to say ‘hi’ to Pan Zi.

Xiao Ge, faster come back!!!
Imma wait for Daomu Biji Chong Qi…..

So far Qin Hao’s Wu Xie is the BEST portrayal of Wu Xie.
So looking forward to Zhu Yi Long’s version..

my-otp-list:

As The Lost Tomb 2 & 3 are soon coming to an end, I’m here trying to get people hyped up for the upcoming The Lost Tomb: Reboot(Daomu Biji: Chong Qi) starring no other than the highly talented, impossibly adorable, supremely beautiful

ZHU YILONG!

Rumour has it that the series will air this August 17th, 2019 *ahem* But I highly doubt it considering the filming just finished a few months ago. Nevertheless, as this series features Zhu Yilong and is directly supervised by Nan Pai San Shu, it is something to really look forward to.

By the way, if anyone is lost about the timeline, Reboot takes place 10+ years after Main Story events, thus also after Mystic Nine (Lao Jiu Men)and Tomb of The Sea (Sha Hai). Wu Xie is about 38 years old now. We will see Iron Triangle together again being best bros, so yay!!!

[Also this is the only Eng-subbed Chong Qi video that I managed to find on the entire Internet… ]

i am honestly very excited for this i hope it wouldn’t dissapoint.
