warnings: call your dentist, you’re about to read tooth rotting fluff

summary: You and Matt stay in on a rainy Sunday.

It was a Sunday, your favorite day of the week. You didn’t know if it was on purpose or more of a subconscious thing, but Matt always seemed to try and relax more on Sundays. He would run errands early so he could get back and enjoy as much of his day as he could with you.

hi! this is my first (ish) fic on tumblr!! my requests / asks are currently open so please check the post before this if you want one!

here is dad! matt content because i think there is not enough anywhere

You blinked awake, sitting up slowly and wiping the bit of drool that leaked from the corner of your mouth. Your eyes adjusted to the light, and your heart jumped as soon as you realized two things. One, your husband was missing from the bed. And two, there was an odd lack of noise.

You swung your feet off the bed, slipping on your house shoes. The lights in the kitchen were on, and there were ingredients to make pancake batter out, but no sign of child or husband.

You heard giggling and shushing from the other side of the kitchen island you were on and a smile erupted on your face as you hummed aloud. “Hmm.. I wonder where my dearest Theo could be! and Matt.. oh no i hope they’re okay!”

“Here mommy! I’m right here!” Your little boy jumped up from behind the counter, and you heard a deeper chuckle accompanied by a groan, (you assumed it was Matt just standing up,) as you lifted your child up and propped him on his hip.

“Good morning baby! What are you two doing, you’re a mess!” You looked at your child, covered in flour and the puddle of milk on the floor.

Behind him stood your husband, his eyes flicking around your general direction and the cheesiest smile on his face. “What about me? Do i get a good morning?”

“Mm, no.” You placed Theo down as he began patting off the flour, and you walked over to Matt, placing a small kiss on his cheek. “There.” His smile somehow grew wider and you turned to your child, Matt’s arms wrapped around your torso, as Theo fake gagged.

He was only 2, but just like Matt he was smart. “Daddy’s got some in his hair, Mommy you need to get it or he’s going to turn into bread!”

You burst into laughter as you broke away from Matt’s embrace, beginning to clean up the milk puddle on the floor. You handed a wet cloth to Theo, and he began cleaning off the flour. You grinned as he was focused, his tongue held between his lips, just like Matt would do while he worked.

Theo tugged on your sleeve, and when you bent down, he whispered in your ear. “Daddy isn’t very good at making pancakes. They taste bad. But you can’t tell him, okay?”

Knowing he heard that you laughed, and Matt’s laughter could be heard down the hall, from the bathroom where he was washing up.

“I wont tell him. I promise.” You pat him on his head and began stirring the batter that had never gotten mixed.

Matt came up behind you, grabbing the pan and heating it up. “Thank you dear. But it isn’t nice to listen to when I wake up and hide from me.” You teased, poking him in his stomach as one of the pancakes sizzled.

“I know, I know. I am so sorry, truly.” The grin on his face told you otherwise.

“Yeah you’re gonna do it again, aren’t you?” You rolled your eyes as you flipped the pancake.

“Yeah, I am.” He kissed you on the nose as you both listened to the sound of your child running rampant around his room.

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”
