According to a blog postbyMomotaro Dentetsu project supervisor Akira Sakuma, he along with Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama and Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii cameo in The Return of Godzilla as members of a crowd running away from Godzilla. Because they were laughing while running, Sakuma says they were not shot in close-up. Sakuma also alleges that Toriyama appears in the middle of the front row of the crowd on the film’s poster.

There’s a town early in game where everyone speaks in haiku. You go there later and find out that this is a deliberate affectation, probably because the town is at least slightly a tourist trap.
The leader of this town later tries to feed actual human beings to a dragon. She’s still speaking in haiku the ENTIRE time.
You meet a mermaid who speaks EXCLUSIVELY in iambic heptameter and you’re like, all right, this is clearly just one weird mermaid, and then you find the mermaid kingdom and no they’re ALL like that. Unlike haiku town this is probably not an affectation.
A tournament arc that’s really just a giant wrestling parody. Also you find out your randomly-assigned tournament partner has been kidnapping his opponents to feed to a giant spider and that’s how he’s been winning all these fights.
The mayor of your hometown has a book of puns written down specifically so he can tell his granddaughter.
There’s a lost little girl named Dora in one of the towns. You discover later that she’s actually the cursed mural that’s been making people disappear into thin air. Her proper name is Dora-in-Grey. This punchline didn’t land for me until MONTHS later and I wanted to cry.
Secondary antagonist helps cause the aforementioned apocalypse and, according to a random npc, IMMEDIATELY goes to a bakery and shoves concerning amounts of cake into his mouth.
There is a full-grown adult stuck in a kid’s body because weird side effects of magic bullshit and while they do steer away from anything that would be particularly Icky they give you MULTIPLE fursuits for her to wear.
Dragon with a jar. His name is Jarvis. He speaks primarily in jar and pot-based puns.
Resident jester (who is responsible for the clown costume above) bargains with a minor villain, offering to give her something very valuable in exchange for freeing the hostages she took. They drop horse manure into her hand. The key-item-get jingle plays.
A different minor antagonist: “eh, I’m done being evil, I only froze the town and tried to kill you guys cause the hot guy who let me out of the book told me to.”
You can find a series of journals with TREMENDOUS emotional payoff, but first you have to sit through five entries where the author gives you his alias: Sudo Nim. (You know. Pseudonym. Amazing.)

Hey everyone, this blog isn’t dead! I’ve decided to try my hand at writing fanfiction for “Dragon Quest: Adventure of Dai” recently. This fanfic started off as a series of humorous thoughts to myself, then grew until I had the basics of a plot. It’s a college AU Hyunckel x Popp fic, in which Popp is an idiot that hates Hyunckel until they actually get to know each other, and oh no, what is this odd feeling in Popp’s chest? And why do they keep finding themselves in situations where they hug?
