Lila’s self-erasure may be her own right, but the friend (Elena) she touched above any other human is so distraught that she chronicles their life. The one part of Lila’s self that Lila cannot erase is Lenu, and it’s just such a powerful way for Elena to convey ‘how dare you, my soulmate, try to deny you were ever a part of me and I was a part of you.’
