Greg, focused on his paperwork, which had increased exponentially since he became DCI, hadn’t even heard that someone had entered his office.

It wasn’t until he felt a presence next to him that he looked up and saw Mycroft, leaning against his desk, watching him with a gentle smile.

Greg exclaimed in surprise, “Mycroft? What are you doing here?”

Mycroft replied without losing his smile, “I know you told me you still had a lot of work to do, but I figured I could come here rather than wait for you at home alone.”

He leaned over and kissed him on the forehead and then began to walk around Greg’s desk to sit down. Greg, grabbed his hand to hold him back and asked, “But why? You’ll get bored, I really have to work.”

Mycroft intertwined his fingers with Greg’s and replied softly, “I just wanted to spend some time with you.”

Greg, touched, pulled his lover towards him for a tender kiss then Mycroft moved away and took a chair to sit across from him, pulling one of the files towards him.

“Let me help you, we’ll be home faster.”

Greg grabbed the hand holding the file, squeezed it gently and whispered, “Thanks.”

Then they both started to work. 

Just like that.
