(A brief snippet of my WoL leaving Sharlyan to begin his story in Ul’dah)

Roisin could remember the gentle smile on her face, her voice kind and soft the way it always was when she really wanted him to hear what she was saying. 

“I have to go, my little Rose.” She told him as he shook his head, rushing forward to hug her, wrap his arms in an attempt to keep her there. “You’ve gotten so much stronger, Roisin. You will be fine and, one day, we’ll end up together again and you’ll tell me all of the grand things you have done.” She said, pushing him back as she looked down at him, her own eyes bright with tears as she touched his cheek, already wet with tears. “I will always love you, my little Rose.” She told him as she turned and walked off without looking back, hands holding him back as he let out anguished screams and cries, trying to get her to come back with his voice alone. 

Roisin started awake, blinking from his perch that gave him a view of Sharlyan and the glittering sea that lapped at it. He huffed out a breath from the windowsill he was nestled in as he watched little people scurrying about the winding paths. Suddenly, Roisin’s long, furry ears turned slightly as he heard quiet steps, the sound familiar.

“I thought I’d find you here.” Erenville noted as Roisin looked over, the man still in his gleaner clothes, eyes sharp. 

“I should’ve found a harder to find spot to nap in then.” Roisin said dryly as Erenville snorted slightly, stepping closer to Roisin, leaning against the wall a bit. 

“I heard The Forum went easy on you. What you did was very stupid. Did you even find what you were looking for?” He said, eyes locked on Roisin. 

“I think I’ve been interrogated enough for one day.” Roisin said, closing his eyes as if he planned to go back to sleep.

“Perhaps…But I also heard you were planning to leave like a thief in the night. Not even offering a letter to all those here who care for you.” He added as Roisin opened his eyes, looking at him before looking over the city, the sun setting and bathing all in a firey glow. There was silence for a long while as the distant sound of waves filled the air. 

“One of the people who cared isn’t around to say goodbye to.” Roisin noted. “And this city loves rumors. Being seen talking to me isn’t…It wouldn’t be good.” Roisin told him as he looked back to him. 

“You think I care what others think of me? No, I couldn’t care less.” He said, stepping closer as he held his hand out, Roisin pausing but placed his metal hand in his as Erenville placed a kiss on the cold metal. “I know better than to ask you to stay, Roisin. However, I will miss you. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for. And I hope your demons learn to flee from you.” He said, turning Roisin’s hand over as he placed a glass bottle in it with a shimmering liquid. “Something to help my insomniac friend to sleep since I won’t be there to scold you to do so.” He said as Roisin blinked a moment and nodded, tucking it away. 

“I…” Roisin said, trailing off a moment as the light dipped lower and lower on the horizon. 

“Don’t worry…We’ve never been good with words.” Erenville said with a sad smile, leaning forward to kiss his head as Roisin let him. “Stay safe, Roisin.” He said as Roisin nodded at that, the two staying close a moment, the light completely fading before Erenville stepped back and began walking off, casting a backwards wave. “Until I see you again then, Roisin!” He called, Roisin watching the dark haired viera disappear. 

It was time to grab his ship to Ul'dah.
