“I’m sorry. How many times I gotta say that? I’m sorry I hurt you, and that’s somethin I’m never going to be able to take back I get that, but I’m not sorry I left. I had to leave, I thought you would’ve understood that. You say you knew me, but it’s almost like you ain’t never met me.”
“You had to,” You scoff. “Yeah you had to leave in the night like because you were ashamed. You knew you were wrong!”
“I was a kid!”
“So was I.”
“Why you think you the only one that deserve grace? You did some stupid shit too. Crazy shit. You didn’t tell me ma died.”
“You weren’t there! I grieved her, Erik. By myself, in that stupid bedroom that we shared, where I kept bunk beds until I was 16 because I though you’d come back. That was stupid! Waiting around for you was stupid, trusting you was stupid, going on that date with you was stupid!”
“One mistake is all it takes for you to pull that shit out your ass. One mistake. There was a fucking 8 car pile up, they blocked off the street. Was I supposed to fly to you?”
You roll your eyes, starting at your keys again. “Nah, tell me. Tell me what you wanted me to do when we were 13, tell me what you wanted me to do when ma died, even though I didn’t know, tell me what you want me to do now. Tell me and I’ll do it.“ He listened to you silence. “Exactly. There isn’t anything I can do. Cause the second some shit don’t go your way, the second you feel like it I’m just gone be him again. Ain’t shit ass nigga, who made a mistake when he wasn’t even old enough to drive that you plan on making me pay for forever. You plan on whippin that shit out the rest of our lives.”
“God, you are so- you want me to tell you what to do? Go away and stay. Don’t crash into my life when things are fine, like you did when we were 13. Don’t fuck things up and come back like I’m supposed to be grateful you remembered me. Don’t ask me on a date, don’t feed me stupid fantasies about our ‘relationship’ and ‘the rest of our lives’ when you can’t even make it on a date you pressed me for. Leave and don’t come back because I fucking hate you and I wish they never brought you home.“
