Soulmate! Au where everyone has a clear bracelet when they are born and at age 5 or when you meet them it turns the colors of the nation your soulmate is from. Red and yellow for fire, blue and silver for water, green and bronze for earth, and orange and brown for air. The amount of links in the chain is how long it takes you to meet them. Some people have bracelets that are air but the year where they would have met their soulmate comes and glows and the bracelet turns clear again. When you meet your soulmate the colors glow brighter- if you have more than one then half, a third, etc. of the colors glow.

Katara- Katara has always assumed her soulmate died with the air nomads. Some of the others in her village had bracelets like hers and they all turned clear. She knew that at the end of her 14th year her bracelet would probably turn clear and she had accepted that.

Sokka- Sokka’s bracelet was the colors of the fire nation and he hated it. he preferred to turn it to the other side to see the earth kingdom tones. After his mother was killed and his father away at war he tried to cover it up. He had fifteen links each of which were made up of two little rings.

Aang- Aang expected to find his soulmate soon before he went into the ice. The monks traveled all over so he counted his twelve swirls and was so excited on his birthday.

Suki- Suki had some bad feelings about the fact she had a fire nation soulmate but she learned to love the 16 links and her two soulmates.

Zuko- Zuko’s father burned his wrist but the  colors stayed the same. Ursa reassured Zuko that his Earth Kingdom and water tribe soulmates would love him with all their hearts. He counts the fourteen links and prays to Agni.

Toph- Tophs bracelet glowed the moment she pt it on. She brags about it to most people who will listen. People who are enough on their own are considered sacred in most cultures (fuck the fire nation :(  Her bracelet is a metal band with beautiful carvings.

Yue- Yue’s bracelet glowed white every night the moon shone. It had the phases of the moon instead of rings. She counted them and resolved to treasure the sixteen years she had.
