It’s all about contrast… If you have someone buttoned up & put in a three piece suit plus overcoat for about 33 episodes that character would appear practically naked when one button comes undone… Just generally speaking…

okay, I’m not much of one for speaking out, but I’m just going to elaborate for a moment on something that’s been bothering me ever since the first “”“Essie Davis is the only reason we won’t ever have any more mfmm”“” discussion popped up in the media/internet.

Essie Davis can take any job she wants because it is (shock! horror!!!) HER career! If it doesn’t include more MFMM, then so be it. It sucks for fans, but it’s not the end of the world. It’s already a wonderfully embraced show and I don’t think that will ever change. HOWEVER, the media (and some fans as well) need to stop placing the lack of MFMM renewal/updates solely on her, honestly. It’s not just her being busy expanding her career. There are other factors, I’m sure, as show business is not an individualistic field. Essie’s doing projects that fulfill the climb of her Mount Everest (the heights of which, she will not discuss). The woman can do any and everything, so why can’t people just let her?? As long as she’s enjoying her life and her projects, then why can’t she do that without the media scrutinizing her every non-Miss Fisher move? She doesn’t have to live up to anyone’s expectations but her own.

Let her be an actress, producer, and the director she hopes to be one day. I, for one, am very excited to see where her future endeavors take her.

Happy birthday, Essie Davis! (30 Nov 1970) ♡

“She’s an original. She has certain qualities that other actresses don’t have, a kind of a mystery about her, a privacy that’s intriguing, and she only lets a little bit slip: she always holds something back so that you want to investigate further with her.” - John Bell

“She’s a real transformer. She is insanely charismatic as a performer, which can’t be manufactured.” - Cate Blanchett

“You know when you put something in front of Essie that you’re not going to get politeness, you’re going to get a lot of raw honesty. […] she’s completely in the moment, emotionally, of what she’s experiencing. She just sinks into life and embraces it and screams and yells and laughs in ways that are very honest.” - Justin Kurzel

“I want to have the great roles that move people profoundly. I want to have the choice and be given the opportunity to play those roles and, unfortunately, fame plays a huge part in that. I’m incredibly ambitious but I feel I’ve got a fantastic career … I love that no one knows who I am.“ - Essie Davis

OMG I also exploded when I saw dpshimmyshimmyandstoplookingup‘s thoughts on the possibilities of The Doctor being a woman. The most brilliant idea EVERRR!!! I don’t know if my heart can take it!! Essie Davis would make a KILLER Doctor!

And yes, desiskipper, you should DEFINITELY watch Dr. Who!!
