Did Central nervous system and brain pattern recognition evolve to better recognize food vs danger? Like you can recognize colour and output danger/safe/food with just a small clump of neurons, so randomly add a clump of cells that can learn from input and it learns red=bad and green=food. And then prey start to evolve, the ones that survive are a slightly different colour, and predators start to evolve and the colour of the ones that eat and breed begin to come closer together so you mutate a few extra neurons and now you can differentiate more colours, and this war continues with prey adapting to look more like a predator and brains growing to be able to recognize more complex patterns: colors, colour patterns, stripes and dots, low resolution shapes, higher resolution shapes, more complex shapes, features, combinations of features, and that’s how you end up with brains that are really good at recognizing snakes and butterflies that look exactly like snakes.
