fishhhhhhh:

Hey fishblr,

My goldie, Vysh, hasn’t eaten in about 3 days. He’s swimming in small circles, and just floating along in the mid ground of the tank (not sifting in the gravel, either.) He’s 11 year old, do you think he may just be old? There’s no sign of any internal or external problems. All parameters are fine, and he gets a weekly 90% water change. He’s in a 55 gallon.

I feel like 90% a week is quite a lot for a weekly change? BUT I also have no experience with goldies. Any followers have any tips?

Swaying torch. Does anyone know why torch corals get crinkly like this?

I need fish help

I was given a dwarf gourami for christmas and I didn’t want him to be alone so I read up on tank mates and one recommendation was tetras. I had two tetras with my gourami along with two snails and they were doing decently well until apparently today. My mom texted me and told me Mayer (gourami) was chasing the other two and they died and she thinks he also killed the snails.

I half wonder if she just didnt feed them as often as I did before I left for school (I fed them about every two hours) and he possibly got aggravated, but I don’t know details.

I don’t really want to leave him by himself, but I also remember having a kissing gourami growing up and I had to keep him alone because he would fight/eat literally every fish we put in with him.

Anyways, my point is, what tank mates does one recommend for a seemingly more territorial/snippy dwarf gourami? The tank is a small one since I’m not allowed a large one at school (I was always told a gallon per 1inch fish so please no “you need at least a 20 gal for your fish!” stuff). I was thinking a small pleco of sorts since Mayer stays towards the top and a pleco would stay closer to the bottom.

Any suggestions?
