For this prompt I chose to go with the Fisher King or Maimed King (sometimes they are the same person, sometimes they are not), from Arthurian/Grail folklore.
There are many variations of the story and this figure has various names in each of them, but he’s always wounded in the legs/thigh/groin and incapable of standing. In the later versions he is wounded by the Spear of Longinus. Sir Percival and/or Sir Galahad heals him. I thought about including one of them, but I wanted the focus to be on the injured character and the iconography.
Robin Williams was a genius, but he was also a dedicated craftsman who explored how an actor could express character through movement. Join me in honoring this tiny facet of his work.
