Use a clean glass! Make sure it is not smudged, dirty or smells of dishwasher soap.
When carrying her glass hold it low down on the stalk and never touch the rim
Pour around third to half full - for wine this allows swirling and enjoyment of the aroma
Ensure her glass is always topped up unless she says otherwise. If she is demanding a top up you’ve failed as her servant. Don’t be annoying with it, just make sure she doesn’t go empty
Pour wine with the label facing her so she can see the bottle
Never touch her wine glass once you’ve put it on the table, hold the bottom of the bottle and pour whilst holding the other hand behind your back
For extra flourish fold a napkin over your pouring arm for spillages and bow or curtsy when done
Finally, don’t seek recognition for pouring, just do it. Your role is wine bitch and servant not entertainer. Be invisible.
