“OK, so tell me something,” he says. “Something deep.”
She snorts softly. “No.”
“Lani –”
“You want deep?” she asks then, and he nods quickly. She bites her lip and returns a single nod. “OK. I like my coffee with lots of creamer. Eggs – scrambled with cheese. Mozzarella cheese. Water – ice cold. Tequila – with lime and salt –”
“Wow,” JJ says. “That’s so deep. I feel like I know everything about you now.”
All Addy wanted to do is keep her head down, just work her new job, stop crying on her only friend’s sofa at three am while not so quietly singing along to Taylor Swift and other assorted break up songs. Not to get anymore dumb impulsive tattoos. All while trying to rebuild herself and make lasting friendships, no relationship drama, just rebuilding herself.
Just living not necessarily her best life, but her life under the radar.
Despite her best attempts, the arrogant, self assured star striker was slowly but surely burying himself under Addy’s skin.
Initially it was just to annoy her only friend, but somewhere along the way, it had the potential to turn into something more against Addy’s previous wishes.
