i remember 2018 sitting in animation class with my friend looking at a hiring post for Nimona on twitter. the production had been looking for story artists. aside from the fact we were both students, blue sky studios was also super far away. we were disappointed we couldn’t find a way to work on the film (i’m sure many aspiring artists around the world felt the same way at the time too) but we eagerly awaited for the movie’s release
2019, d*sney bought 20th century fox, the company producing nimona. i didn’t even know what this meant until 2021, they also bought blue sky studios, and the movie was indefinitely cancelled. if you looked through my #nimona tag, you would see how angry i was, even right up to earlier this year. they were 75% finished animation. the movie was unlike anything the world had seen. of course, part of me was angry we would never see this film. but mostly i was so, so upset that d*sney was swallowing everything with their big greedy corporate mouths and leaving no room for competition, innovation, different stories, stories featuring queer artists and protagonists. disney had gotten their grubby little hands on nimona, and it would never see the light of day
so imagine me waking up to my 8:30 alarm, blearily checking my twitter so my brain could wake up enough for my body to get up, and seeing THIS
I THOUGHT it was link breathofthewild at first. but then i looked at the account, the caption, and i would have fucking SCREAMED
it’s what ND deserves. it what nimona deserves. i am beyond excited for this. 2023 let’s GOOOOOOOOO

Kelly Marie Tran is a wonderful actor and person who does not deserve the hate she received and the subsequent minimisation of her role. I loved Rose Tico in TLJ and was extremely upset to see how small of a role she played in ROS.
It’s true, and it’s extremely ugly to see Disney giving the impression of caving to the people who abused her.
If I were you, I wouldn’t believe the stories that humans tell about ocean-dwellers.
Remember that stories are always more telling of the tellers than of those of whom the story is told. Bards and minstrels have their keep to earn, and they are not above weaving fancies from whole cloth. You would do well to doubt the words of seamen and lighthouse-keepers, too. Sea-cows and driftwood are easily mistaken for other shapes in the water, and the mind does strange things in the company of rum and loneliness.
Mark my words: only fools and sailors ascribe truth to human stories of the sea.
