I’ve always thought that love and destiny were two things that never crossed paths. In my mind, love was something that radomly happened, being certain and sometimes not. That would be why some couples actually work out and some not.
I was so wrong and now I can finally see it. Since the time when I started having dreams about you. They were not normal dreams; they had an cronological order, always seeming to follow a script. The previous dream always connected to the next, somehow. Sometimes, it was like I was moved to someone else’s body the moment I fell asleep.
Those dreams were so real that I started thinking I was going crazy. I was living someone else’s life, a completely different world, and sometimes it was hard for me to know what was real and what was a dream.
Until the day we’ve met and I’ve finnaly realised that it was you all the time. All of those weird dreams that kept me curious for so much time. I have no idea about how I got to this conclusion, but i just know.I recognized your voice the moment you said ‘hello’.
In my dreams, I never saw your face. Whenever we walked by mirrors or anything that could reflect face, all I’d see was a blur. But your voice is something that I could never get wrong. Sometimes it felt like you were talking to me.
There is this one time I remember dreaming one of those dreams again. However, something was different, this time I was in my own body, seeing through myeyes and you were right beside me, holding my hand really tight, with your face still blurred, I remember hearing you say
“I will find you again. Even if it’s on another life. Promise you’ll wait for me.”
Can you believe it? One more dream. One more promise abou future lives.
That was the last time I dreamt about you, though. After that line it stopped, almost like you had left my life forever. That was the only time I woke up feeling a little empty after dreaming about you.
I had some relationships that didn’t really lasted too much. They were all very boring and it felt fake all the time. Sojung used to say that they didn’t last because those people weren’t on my destiny line and that someday I would finally find my soulmate. They weren’t meant to be.
And I waited, and waited, until the day we’ve met and I could fell real love. That was when i had the confirmation tha my soulmate had finally come to take me. When you told me that you had those weird dreams too, it got realer. I remember it like it happened yesterday.
“Do you believe them? The dreams?”
“I believe that we’ve already met in our past lives, and that we will keep meeting after this one too.” You said, with your voice calm like the ocean after the storm.
“And what if we don’t met?”
“Well then we make a promise, just like we did before.” You lifted your hand and lifted your pinky, saying “I promise I will find you in all of our lives”
I looked at your raised pinky a little skeptical, but with my heart begging me to believe. Then I attached my finger to yours, and saw your bright smile as we touched our thumbs, finalizing our promise.
“This is completely crazy.” I said and you laughed
“It is,” you agreed “But you know what? I don’t care, I just want to love you in every opportunity I have”
“I really hope we can keep that promise” I said a little insecure. I was afraid we couldn’t make it.
But you looked at me, still holding my hand and gave me one of those smiles of yours that make your eyes smaller when your cheeks tighten them, and said
“Don’t worry, the world can go against us, the laws can try to separate us, but they’ll fail. Because as long as a me and a you exist, we will find each other, and we will love again, and again, and again.”
