Football & particularly international tournaments are about unity & people coming together, including LGBTQ+ people!
To @uefa_official & @euro2020, whilst the rationale you gave for not permitting @dfb_team to light up the Allianz Arena, as they specifically requested it as a protest against Hungary’s treatment of LGBTQ+ people. At the same time this kind of neutrality towards hate is a huge part of the problem as not opposing it allows it to foster. Being LGBTQ+ is not political.
The saying is #footballisforeveryone but a lot of the LGBTQ+ community will be asking ‘is it really?’ with the decision to not put the rainbow flag up in lights. If we want the game to be truly inclusive then these things matter.
All over social media grassroots clubs, bodies, & charities are showing their support for LGBTQ+ inclusion in football - now let’s see some meaningful, top down action.
