We all the senior students started our first day of the school year curious about who would be the new Headmistress who was going to replace Mrs. Adams after her retirement.

When we reached the school we were informed that the person hired as the new Headmistress was Miss Wadlow. She was well known because she had been awarded with the “Golden Cane” last year, so her name had appeared often on the local press.

As you probably know, this award is given yearly among all the teachers to the one who is considered as the most strict and skilled caner of the county.

For sure it’s not a good omen for us.
