“Yes, just one large cheese pizza please.” I listen for a second while the person taking my order repeats the total back to me. “Yes, half an hour? Okay, thank you so much!” I end the call and smile. I get to surprise you with pizza when you get home from a long day of work!
A little later on, a knock was at the door. Answering it, I pay the delivery kid and place the pizza on the coffee table. You would be home at any time now. I bring out your favorite beer, and get butterflies when I hear the garage door opening.
I head out to the garage just as you are pulling in and you grin when you see me. You fling the car door open wide and grab me. Scooping me into your arms, pressing me against your big belly and spinning me around, kissing me hard. Breathlessly, I look up at you and whisper, “I got you a surprise inside!”
You run your hand through my hair and smile. “I got you something too. Go inside and wait.” I smile up into you face and go inside. Sitting anxiously on the couch, my eyes watch the door for you to come in. The doorknob turns and my heart beats excitedly. You waltz in, grinning ear-to-ear proudly at me, and pull out a familiar white box from behind your back.
“I brought pizza!” You exclaim, opening the box and showing me the pie.
“Oh! It seems great minds think alike, my love.” I gesture towards the table. “I got us one too!”
Your eyes grow wide as you see the identical box on the table. “Wow, that’s a lot of pizza,” you say, gulping before asking the question you already know the answer to…“Do we even have room in the fridge for leftovers?”
I shake my head no. “Guess you’re going to have to eat it all…” I grin evily at the look of fear in your face, as I flip open the lid and pick up a slice. You set the box down next to my box, taking off your jacket and sliding down next to me. The beer was still ice cold, and you open the longneck with your bare hand, taking a huge swig. I lift the slice to your lips and straddle your thigh. “Time to get started piggy…”
