#halo of blood

RATE:**

So, the other day, I caught sight of CoB’s new song called “Transference” on my youtube updates. I decided to give it a listen. The intro was pretty decent but not very attention grabbing. I still listened through though. On to the main/verse riff. I was kind of bored by this point. I wasn’t really feeling it or wanting to headbang. The chorus however was pretty catchy. Alexi’s vocals weren’t really impressing me on this one either. I thought the bridge was pretty interesting. Both the guitar and keyboard solos that followed it felt pretty tame for Bodom to me, though. You suddenly find yourself back at the chorus of the song, and then once the chorus is over, it comes to an abrupt stop, and then the song is over.

I honestly wasn’t too impressed with this song. In one of the interviews I heard from them, Halo of Blood was supposedly suppose to sound like really their really old stuff, similar to Something Wild, Hatebreeder, Follow the Reaper, and Hatecrew Deathroll but “Blacker”. Not that I dislike Are You Dead Yet?, Blooddrunk, or Relentless Reckless Forever, I just felt like those albums showed a less explosive Bodom. I had high hopes for this song, but it honestly sounded like something from their last three albums being even more watered down. I didn’t hated it though. I’m hoping that, like said in an interview I just listened to, the rest of the album is a little bit more diverse. I give this song a 2/5 stars.
