My second design, which was basically the successful version of what I’d been trying to accomplish with the first one (although I still love that one too, all the more for how multi-purpose it is! *g*). The little miniature bullets on the end were chosen for two reasons: one, to make it clearer that this is for Black Widow the character, not just a black widow spider *g*, and two, because they’re almost the color that her widow’s bites are in the comic illustrations I’ve seen. I love wearing these and just wish I had an excuse to wear them more often! *g*

My very first design, both variations, and the inspiration for the name of my shop.

This one eventually wound up in a very different place than it started. I’d never even really heard of Black Widow before I saw The Avengers (most of my comics education was Silver Age DC from my uncle’s stash when I was a kid *g*) so when I came out of the movie a huge fan, it was both a surprise and a disappointment to discover how little merch there was for her. So, I went to my local craft store looking for triangular beads I could make into an hourglass, and this was the closest I found. So you could say that *technically* it’s a Black Widow necklace. But, as a fellow Whovian friend of mine pointed out when I showed it to her, two hearts in an hourglass shape also makes a great Time Lord necklace, so it can function as either one! :-) And as yet another Whovian friend pointed out, if you’re an Eleven fan, it also makes a great sideways bow-tie! ;-)

If you like this necklace, you can find it at my Etsy shop:
