Happy Birthday Molly!

This fabulous icon turns 87 today.

Molly holds such a special place in my heart because she was my very first historical doll, beginning my love for the historical characters. I got Molly for Christmas in 2006. Seeing commercials on TV for the Molly movie is what originally sparked my interest earlier that year, leading me to check out Meet Molly frommy school library. I was instantly hooked and had to read them all. And get Molly herself, which I did. After reading Molly’s series I went on to read all of the other historical character books that were released at that time.

I was a fan of American Girl before this, having had Bitty Babies and AG Today dolls, but this opened up a whole new world for me. The same went for reading in general. I already loved reading but having a whole new array of books and characters to read about made me love reading even more. I learned so much about history from these books. This also began my bookstore obsession. So thank you Molly McIntire, and American Girl, for having such a huge impact on my childhood and being the source of many happy memories. And once again, Happy Birthday, Molly!

These birthday gals have time traveled in order to enjoy each others’ company for their special days this week. Felicity is looking not a day over 10 on her 256th birthday today. And Molly can’t contain her excitement for her 87th birthday tomorrow.
