i love harding welsh as a character. for the most part he’s this typical hardened cynical big city police lieutenant who sees mob bosses everywhere and is in constant trouble with the irs, and he’s great in that role, but then he also sometimes jumps for joy over the idea of getting to be on a boat or gives the most ridiculously lyrical description of the rcmp musical ride you could imagine just off the cuff. also, “constable, you have returned. upon reflection, i imagine that pleases me” in burning down the house is a great line and he delivers it perfectly.
