It was 1 o'clock at night and Hermione was walking through a street she couldn’t remember. She looked like a ghost with her smeared lipstick, splotched mascara, bloodshot eyes with fresh tears rolling down her cheeks and her dress, her beautiful expensive dress was now smudged with mud and wet at the hem. Nobody could guess just how perfect she looked a few hours ago, nobody could guess that she was Hermione Granger.
She could still hear the sound of church bells lowering as she ran away from the wedding gardens leaving him and everything behind. She knew she should’ve left with an explanation, even a fucking note would’ve sufficed but what was there to explain? it’s not cold feet if you’ve already got a foot out the door.
A sign on a store caught her eyes it read “when love comes flaws leave” and out of nowhere she begins to laugh hysterically at the words, she looked as if she had escaped a mental asylum. Suddenly a familiar voice caught her ears, “Granger? is that you?
Standing there in his quintessential hickory coat was Draco Malfoy. Over the years his hair had turned from platinum to a dusty shade of blond, the contempt in his eyes which she was used to was replaced by the dark circles under them and the usual sneer on his face was nowhere to be seen, two buttons of his shirt were undone through which a thin diamond chain peeked through, but nothing, not even his handsomeness hid the fact that he looked utterly broken and defeated, just like her which filled Hermione’s chest with a settling feeling she couldn’t comprehend.
Hermione faced him and her hysterical laughs turned to sobs, she pointed her finger at this sign and begin “But Ron was flawless, the perfect gentlemen, the kind, moral guy who would do anything for his family, the kind of guy who would wake up early just to make pancakes for me, who wouldn’t lie to me, who would forget my flaws, so why? why wasn’t I able to forget his?
He looked at her, Hermione Granger; brightest witch of her age, the brains of the Golden Trio, a victim of his cruelty in his childhood was standing on a shaggy street in the middle of the night pouring her heart out to him, what was he supposed to do? through his eyes she looked raw and resigned in a way he understood so, he told her the truth, “A beautiful thing is never perfect, Granger”

“You ran,” he said to her, his eyes looking at her with such raw intensity she felt trespassed by it.
“Y-you ha-had f-f-fangs, wh-what was I s-s-supposed to do” she managed to speak.
She could feel her heartbeat stop as his expressions dropped and hurt masked his face. She could feel her eyes fill with tears as she felt his hurt burning through every inch of her body, she wondered if this was the supposed bond or she was actually feeling him. She hoped it was the bond.
He looked into her eyes again, “I also have wings, I could show you”
She wanted to run away again but she felt his desperation, his desperation to find someone who could love him like he was. She didn’t think she could ever.
He started walking towards her slowly, she could see his fangs starting to protrude again, she shivered lowly. He jolted his muscles and his shirt tore through and she felt goosebumps. She gasped as she got the full view of his wings. They were the most beautiful thing she has ever seen. They were almost as long as him. She would never be able to forget this spectacle of his silken blue gleam as the wings sat on him as if he was their master. He walked closer, she let him. He pulled her close, she let him. He grabbed her cheeks and stared into her eyes, he looked so vulnerable and fragile. At that moment she became aware of the power she had over him, how much he had given himself to her long before she ever knew they had such a bond. He kissed her, he kissed her so passionately she never wanted to stop. She thought, maybe she could love him as he deserved to be.
