Even though Orion didn’t really notice Striker subtlety slowing down for him, the little one was happy to be keeping up with him now. He heads inside the unfamiliar hotel and looks around curiously.

“Is this where you’re staying for you’re staying for your newest job, daddy?” Orion asks as he keeps looking around the lobby while keeping close to him. “It’s really cool here!”

STRIKER STILL WASN’T KEEN ON THE CHILD’S misconception that he was somehow RELATEDto him- nor that he was so loudly asking questions that regarded his work. He grunts instead of replying before he’s leading the child past the lobby and towards a set of stairs. “This way, kid.”

“U-Uh- okay!” Orion closely followed Striker up the stairs of the hotel from the lobby to the upper floors. Despite feeling safe with his dad, the little one had a weird turning feeling in his stomach, a feeling like something was wrong in a way that he just couldn’t place his finger on.

It suddenly hit him. Orion stopped in his tracks suddenly, eyebrows furrowed as he kept his eyes on Strikers back as he kept walking, not realizing that he had stopped.

“Daddy, which ring of Hell are we in?” Orion asks, clutching the book tightly in his arms with a confused look on his face. “You said this morning that you were going to wrath ring for a job and this doesn’t look like the wrath ring… Are we in the pride ring?”

“Okay!” Orion nods quickly and grabs the book from Striker, pulling it close to him as he walks with him outside. He had to walk fast since of course he was still little and had little legs.

He was still confused why his daddy didn’t recognize him at all. It didn’t make any sense to the little one! Was something wrong with him?

STRIKER HAD NOTICED THAT THE KID WAS STRUGGLING TO KEEP UP, so he subtly slowed down so he could keep up easier without making a comment. He didn’t stop until he reached the front of the hotel, and silently gestured to the child to follow him inside.

Orion almost said something in protest when Striker all but ripped the spellbook from his hands. But he did perk up a bit when the cowboy said he would help him despite acting odd towards him.

“O-Okay!” He sniffles and wipes at his tears with his sleeves to calm himself down. The little one took a few breaths to steady himself before he was alright. “C-Can I have my book back please?”

THE COWBOY HAD ALREADY TURNED AROUND and started walking, assuming the child would just follow behind him. He doesn’t open the book, but does take a few moments to check out the front and back cover. Looking back to the child, he eventually holds the book out to him. “Jus’ don’t go reading out more spells till you know what you’re doing.”

“U-Um… Maybe?” Orion opened up the book and flipped over to the page where the spell was. He read it off like he did before and waited….

Only for nothing to happen. That caused Orion to panic even more, trying again and again almost a dozen more times until he gave up. At this point he was almost on the verge of tears. He was still a young boy and magic was still very new to him and unbeknownst to him, this was a very powerful spell that drained whatever store of magic he had.

“I-I can’t- I can’t do it-” He blubbers out, trying to be strong and not cry but he was so obviously distraught and overwhelmed he didn’t know what to do. Fighting back tears, he closed the book and wipes at his wet eyes with one of his sleeves.

THE COWBOY FOLDS HIS ARMS ACROSS HIS CHEST, waiting as he began reading through the book and waiting for SOMETHINGto happen. As time passed and the child became more and more distressed, he breathed through his nose for a moment before SIGHING. Tail still lashing side to side behind him, of course the kid had managed to get himself stranded. Fuckin’ typical of magic users.

He walks over and all but SNATCHESthe book from him, though he knows there’s no way he’d be able to use the spell. “Well, ain’t worth leaving ya here fer the vultures to get ya. Come with me.” He wasn’t HAPPYabout it, but Satan knows what the hell would happen if he left the kid here. Last thing he needed was the brat snitching on him to whoever DIDeventually take pity on the boy.

“B-But…-” Orion looked a mix of confused and alarmed, clutching to book even tighter to him. “I-I don’t know where I am or how to get home, daddy. A-And I’m not allowed to walk around by myself….”

He was panicked to put it lightly, being so young he didn’t understand just what was going on. Why didn’t his daddy recognize him and treated him so coldly?? The little one’s tail rattled anxiously as he fidgets in place. He didn’t know what to do now.

HE’S TAUGHT HIMSELF TO BE STRONG, to not make any emotional connections yet this kid seemed genuinely DISTRAUGHT. “Can’t you just portal back? That’s how you got here, right?” He gestured to the book clutched to his chest. He wasn’t so heartless to leave the child here alone in such a state- even if he was clearly deluded.
