#he is the bread of life

There’s something about the way every time the disciples see Jesus after he’s risen it’s at a meal

It’s because it’s such a human thing. Like think about it: this dude who the disciples have already been freaked out by in the past bc of the miracles he can do (see the walking on water incident lol) died and is now alive again. They’re terrified, because what does this mean?? How on earth are they supposed to understand this? How do they interact with Him? When He greets them in the upper room–by walking through a locked door, no less–they start panicking. So Jesus says, guys, look, I’m not a ghost: I can eat. Gimme a fish. And I just imagine Him very slowly and pointedly taking a bite of the fish as all of them look at Him, as if to say, “See?”

All jokes aside, though, I really do think He eats with them all to assert that He is really physically there. He isn’t a hallucination, because those can’t make your bread disappear! And He eats, just like the rest of us. He’s still the same Yeshua that they knew for the past three years. Powerful, mighty, incomprehensible–and yet so much like them. Down to earth, shall we say; despite all He has done and who He is, he is still kind, compassionate, funny–still human. Still the same Man that lets them see the face of God.
