In case you guys didn’t know, I’m an air witch. Like green witches, hedge witches, and sea witches there are also elemental witches and I fall squarely into the “air” category with my practice. I am all about travel, creativity, bird symbolism, astral and psychic work, and anything that involves words. I am also really into spell powders.

Spell powders are made by combining magical ingredients together and grinding them down into a fine powder while you’re focusing on your intent. They’re super simple to make and even easier to cast! All you have to do is sprinkle it where you want it or let the powder be carried away by the wind. Spell powders are also super easy to take with you, since I’m nomadic I’m always looking for ways to make my magic portable and this is the pinnacle of quick, portable magic. I can keep half a dozen little vials of various spell powders in my purse without ever noticing the weight difference and they let me cast spells in about ten seconds flat when I need to.

This spell powder is one of my all time favorites and I am never without it. It’s used for sending all purpose healing from a distance. Have a friend who just went through a bad breakup but you’re out of town? Send them some emotional healing. A family member in another town gets injured? You can throw some healing their way before you’ve even left the house. You can even use it to send healing to pets, plants or spirits. It’s seriously SO versatile!

Healing From A Distance Spell Powder

You Will Need:

  • 1 part dirt
  • 1 part egg shell powder
  • 1 part salt
  • A mortar and pestle
  • A fine mesh sieve (optional)

This list of ingredients may seem incredibly simple but each part was chosen with care. Dirt is the foundation for life and growth, I love using it in spells because of just how potent it is for these purposes! Egg shell are commonly used for banishing and protection and salt is an excellent all purpose booster when added to powder spells. Together, these ingredients work to promote the vitality of life and banish illness.

In order to create the powder you’ll simply need to grind about a teaspoon of each ingredient together in your mortar and pestle (a coffee or spice grinder works as well but make sure you don’t use the same one that you use for cooking. Nobody likes dirt in their soup!). If you like, you can pass the powder through a fine mesh strainer in order to remove any remaining chunks that didn’t quite powder finely enough.

After the powder is made it can be stored in glass jars or you can use it immediately. To use this powder simply take it in the palm of your hand and focus on the person you want to send healing to. When you’ve imbued the powder with your intent throw or blow it into the wind.

CAUTION! Make sure you check the direction of the wind first! Getting a handful of dirt and salt blown back in your face isn’t anybodies idea of a good time.

I like to make a large batch of this ahead of time so I’m never without it. My main jar of healing powder stays at home and I keep a little glass vial of it with me in case I need to send someone a little magical love ASAP.

What do you think of spell powders? Have you tried them before? Love them or hate them? Let me know about it in the comments!

urban-bitchcraft:

Since I’m extremely allergic to Advil and medications of the like, I figured why not create something that would help to relieve my cramps during my period? It’s working pretty well for me so I thought I’d share it with you guys.

You will need:

  • A small pouch
  • A pinch of lavender
  • A hematite gemstone
  • A white ribbon tied in a loop (for purity, and to allow healing energy to flow, but not stray)
  • A pen and a piece of paper.

First you must think about exactly what it is you wish to heal. Write it down using only positive language, so for instance, instead of  writing “I don’t want to have period cramps” write “I want to be free of period cramps”.

Take the first letter of each word, removing any repeated letters (e.g. IWTBFOPC) and write them down on a small slip of paper. Fold this slip three times to symbolize healing-three-fold and place it, along with the ribbon, the lavender, and the hematite, into the pouch. Carry the pouch around with you until the end of your period and then dismantle it, giving the slip back to the earth, and keeping the other items for use in further spell work.
