If Rick had been more creative he would have used Jason, the child soldier who literally spent his life handling the consequences of the actions of gods, as a foil for Apollo “fuck around and find out”.
Think about what could have been done with them. Apollo sitting around feeling bad for himself, daring to mention someone he cared about that died, saying something like “I remember so many of them” and Jason hitting back with “I remember all of them. Every legionary that died because of my orders. Every one.” And Apollo has to look into the eyes of his half brother and realize that Jason was forced to pay for every mistake made by Zeus, Hera, and every other god.
