summary: taking penelope’s advice in her stride, reader is trying her best to have fun and spend time with spencer, but it leads to something that she hadn’t thought about properly.
a/n: this is like, the epicentre of the entire series so yes this is LONG (sorry in advance). the last two weeks have been a bitch so sorry for the wait but yeah at least im coming back with a bang (whether thats good or bad is up to you).

there weren’t many things that spencer was sure about in his 34 years on the earth. he was sure about his intelligence, that everything he knew was all in his head, that he wouldn’t lose that information anytime soon. another thing he was also certain about was his place in the team, his job that he loves more than anything except his mother. he doesn’t care if he doesn’t do anything else ever again; he’d be happy doing this until he physically couldn’t get out of bed anymore.
a third thing he recently became sure of, was you.
it wasn’t something he particularly expected, to feel the way he did for you, but when he looks back at the day he met you, a patch of grey that was silently screaming for help, spencer had latched his eyes onto you, trying to silently help you until he had his own love of his life snatched from it just weeks later.
spencer also thinks that you feel the same; sure of him but scared to execute what needs to be done to cross the line from work friends to…to whatever was after that.
