Thanks for everything Sorachi Sensei.

Gintama was much more than an anime to me. I will love ans exalt this work forever. So I have only to thank for gintama to exist and be so important.

I saw some questions about what in the end was Utsuro and Shouyou. And I ended up thinking about the philosophical concept of both in anime

(I don’t know if this is correct ksksk but it was what I liked to think)

I always imagined Utsuro and Shouyou as something more mythological and human at the same time.

The human they were born was like all the others, but the social position they were placed in and their traumas created not many personalities but the duality of the human mind. after so much suffering he had several ways of interpreting his problems, in this way he generated the two great human contradictions that are hate/fear and hope.

Utsuro would be the feeling of denial, the attempt to escape from what has been imposed on him for so long. the feeling of revenge. And Shouyou was the hope even in hard times. Even having everything around him collapsing, he believed in humans.

And in the end showed that both Utsuro and Shouyou were completely human. They were the living form of human feelings, feelings that go hand in hand even though distant.

Well, I truly wanted to speak abt 703 chapter and I can’t lie and say that I didn’t expect something like that. But I’ve never been prepared.

First I have to say that Sorachi did a spectacular job in this chapter. It was full of sad, beautiful and significant scenes.

Gin eyes were so heavy about what was happening that I could feel all his pain and despair to save Takasugi.

The flashbacks showed so strongly the good times of Shoka Shonjuku, was so intense the feeling between Gin and Takasugi at that moment.

They have gone through several battles, Gin has always tried to protect the soul of Takasugi. He knew who Takasugi was and remembered him as the partner he had in that Shoka and Joui times.

And in this chapter they fight side by side to protect the disciples of Shouyou. This is so meaningful to me.

Takasugi fought to protect him, fought his maximum to protect someone he loved and care so much. He wouldn’t let Gin suffer anymore trying to “cut” the Sensei.

This was one of the scenes that hurt me most. Takasugi was smiling as if he had finally fulfilled what he wanted and could rest.

But Gin was completely shaken. He was not prepared to lose Takasugi and that hurt a lot.

I feel like Gin has lost a part of himself in that moment.

The last thing his two eyes saw was Gin. Honestly that was so important to me.

Gintoki loved him and will never forget. Takasugi will always be in his soul and heart independent of the moment.

So, I say Thanks to Takasugi. One of the most incredible and well-developed characters. We all loved him.

This is a “I love you” and “goodbye” to Takasugi.

“Humans…are hollow. But because they know that, they can bring other people in…to live inside them. So even in death…they are not destroyed. They can remain there…in the soul.”

Well, Gintama Chapter 703 destroyed me.

700+ chapters later and one more chapter away from its conclusion, the story seamlessly returns to an emotional title homage. “Gintama” literally translates to “Silver Soul,” but its characters are all beyond golden.

I say this time and again: Sorachi Hideaki is the greatest mangaka of all-time.
