Well right when we thought spring had sprung, the weather in Joetsu retuned to winter-❄️ like, cold rain and wind and sleet and snow. It made me want to get out in the spring sunshine, enjoying the outdoors.
Today I am sharing photos from the Shin-Etsu Trail, which I have explored a bit in seasons past. The entire trail runs some 80 or so kilometers (50 miles) along the border of Niigata and neighboring Nagano prefecture. The trail runs along the ridge of the Sekida Range, at an elevation of about 1000 meters (3280 feet) through the Itakura, Oshima, Kiyosato Yasuzuka areas of Joetsu City. The trail, which has been used both for war and trade, is lined with the cooling beech trees you see here and is a popular trek from spring through fall.
Now come on spring!
