#hnkfashionzine
Hey guys!
We were super busy preparing for Japan Expo, but now that the con is over we want to tell you that we were able to finish sending the remaining orders this week ! Thank you so much for your patience once again.
We also want to let you know that we’ll be open for orders again starting tomorrow (Monday 07/16 10PM UTC+2) !
That is for physical and digital copies! Please note that we won’t do a reprint for the book, so the stock will be very limited. There’ll be the book only and some recomposed spotlight/moonlight bundles as we also have some leftover extras!
The shop will only be open for two weeks or until stock runs out if it happens before, as both mods will be away in August. But digital copies will be available for sale for a longer period on gumroad !
The shop for physical copies will remain at silhouettezine.storenvy.com
Thank you for reading !

- Who runs this zine ?
This is a project brought to you by @atsukie_rand@kyuutan!
We both have experience in the making and the printing of zines, for our collaborative and solos projects (sketchbooks, comics, …), and have participated in various zines. In fact, Kyuutan is also the organizer of the DMMD artbook, “Blue leaf”.
- What is the zine about ?
As the name says, this is a fashion themed zine around the manga Houseki no Kuni by Ichikawa Haruko!
- Will we be compensated ?
Yes! This is a for-profit zine. Each artist will get a bundle version of it (including all merchandises) + after covering the printing cost, the remaining money will be split equally between all contributors.
- Will it be possible for selected artists to buy extra copies at printing price for sale at local conventions and/or online?
As we want to split profits equally among all artists, we will be handling all the sales.
- When will the applications open ?
The form for the applications will be open on January 1st, and will last until Jan 20th!
- How many applications are you going to accept ?
We will accept 23 applications, but if there are a great number of applications we will consider adding more artists.
- What are the portfolio requirements ?
It doesn’t have to be extravagant, just a gallery or art tag will do ! We’ll simply ask you to have more than one example of your recent work on it.
Please note that we’ll also ask you to select three drawings of yours that you consider the best, it will help us reviewing the applications!
- I’ve never participated in a zine before, is it okay for me to apply ?
We encourage everyone to apply! There’s always a first time in everything.
- How will I know if I’m selected ?
We’ll send out mails to all the applicant artists, whether they are selected or not. A list of all the selected artists will be up once we finish deliberating!
- Is traditional art allowed ?
Yes of course! As long as you can provide a properly scanned version of your illustration, in 300 DPI and the right canvas size.
- Are ships allowed ?
As this is a fashion themed zine, we don’t find it relevant to be shown explicitly. You’re free to draw pairing or as many characters as you’d like on your illustration though !
- Art specifications
The zine will be printed in B5 format (176 x 250 mm) portrait, and templates will be provided for the contributors via email. Each artist will be able to contribute up to 1 illustration + an extra page showing details/research of the outfit(s) you designed for the piece. Please note that the extra piece is optional, the minimum you have to do is one illustration.
Landscape or portrait format are accepted but if you choose to do a landscape illustration, you can’t add an extra details page.
Please check this post for an example.
- About the illustration
All kind of illustrations are allowed. Whether you’re more into big compositions on backgrounds or patterns. We’ll only ask you not to turn in a render on a plain canvas.
- About the merchandise
We haven’t defined all the merchandise yet, but you’ll definitely find bookmarks/prints and small goods such as keychains, buttons and pins. We’ll ask all participating artists if they want to make the art for these, however please note that it won’t earn you an extra cut of the profit if there is.
If you have any other question feel free to send an email to [email protected]!
