[DO NOT EDIT OR REPOST]

this isnt my what i usually post but i did a full layer by layer breakdown of tenakth skirmisher outfit (mostly to serve as a cosplay guide for myself)

thought that some artist in need of references or maybe someone whos insane enough to want to put this together as a cosplay could use it, its literally the same for the vanquisher and the high marshal variants so u just have to recolour it if u need those

some stuff isnt 100% accurate (as u can see i drew in zippers and buttons lol) but the changed details are pretty trivial so ,enjoy

Nora lands are clearly the “tutorial” area of the game and that’s cool. “here’s all the basic shit, the little villages and how they run, everything’s familiar and half the machines run away when you sneeze at them”

and then Carja territory is like

WELCOME TO HELL BITCH I HOPE YOU LIKED THAT TUTORIAL HERE’S FUCKING ALLIGATORS IN THE PONDS, 26 FLYING BIRDS VOMITING ICE, AND FUCKING T-REXES FLINGING DESTRUCTO DISCS HAVE FUN

Just a random, late-night thought about the Horizon franchise: It’s literally become a glorified combat simulator with a weak story to justify it being a combat simulator. Looking at the subreddit is depressing as hell because it’s full of “git good” gamers and the story is literally an afterthought.

Meanwhile other games have ran circles around Horizon Forbidden West and Guerrilla is still scratching its head why. No one talks about Horizon Forbidden West like they do Horizon Zero Dawn. The story, lore, and characters it invested so beautifully and heavily in for the first game have become simple plot devices and jokes. No one cares about the aforementioned anymore. Now it’s all about fighting and combat combos. Weapons and modifications. Combat strategies and leaderboards. Hit boxes and arrow types. Glimmer and performance mode.

HFW is just another, bloated, open-world combat simulator with some story and characters to keep it moving.

For context? The Resident Evil franchise wasn’t revived by Resident Evil 7 because of the combat. It was revived because it went back to its roots. Guerrilla could stand to learn from Capcom.

I’m so saddened by what this franchise has become. HFW is an okay game. But it’s wasted so much of what it could’ve been.

cybra-sensei:

So I’ve been re-watching cutscenes and holo-information scenes from H:ZD along with Random Side Quest’s truly excellent lore series for the stuff that happened in the past like the obsessive nerd that I am because I am a lore whore for my favorite games.  There was one little detail that I missed in all my previous re-watches that suddenly jumped out at me now that I’ve finished the “Frozen Wilds” DLC, a quote by Elisabet Sobek.  The quote comes from the third holo-video in Ted Faro’s office (emphasis mine):

“Now your choice is what I tell them. Sign, and I’ll tell them the wealthiest corporation on Earth has guaranteed the funds necessary to build Zero Dawn, exactly as I’ve designed it. Or don’t sign - and I will make sure they and everyone else on this planet knows the real cause of the glitch.”

I’ve probably listened to this recording fifty-or-so times but I never really thought much about it.  Then after the big reveal of the main antagonist in and completing “Frozen Wilds”, suddenly something clicked in my head:

History repeated itself in how things went off the rails.

Now I’m not going to hazard a guess as to why because I don’t think I’ve got enough info to make a Tinfoil Hat Theory based on it, but maybe other H:ZD nerds can fill in info I might have missed and we can work to come up with some potential theories.

No spoilers but now that I’m playing Horizon: Forbidden West, I’m thinking about this post from four years ago a lot right now. Kind of hope to write an update on it with answers to the questions I had listed there.
